'We Just Wish Someone Already Knew Him'

A single, exhausting night in residency redefined Dr. Camilla Gupta’s approach to medicine—and solidified her belief that when parents feel supported, children thrive.

When I meet people socially—especially other parents—I often get asked, "What is it about your practice that allows your parents to worry less and feel more confident?"

As I am currently accepting new patients, I wanted to share my answer with you all online, too.

The truth is, my approach to pediatrics was not shaped by a business plan.

It was shaped by an unforgettable moment during my residency training at Driscoll Children's Hospital.

I clearly remember one night as a senior resident at Driscoll caring for a medically complex child.

After spending nearly an hour going through charts, I walked into the room to find the parents completely exhausted from having to tell the same story over and over again.
They had just spent 45 minutes trying to recall and relay details about specialist appointments, medications, and allergies to a team member.

The mother looked at me and said, "We just wish someone already knew him."

That comment hit me profoundly.

It shaped me as I chose outpatient pediatrics as a career.

I realized that a huge part of parenting stress isn't the symptoms themselves, but the logistical burden of having to constantly educate your healthcare professional and navigate the broken system.

You're the chef, the chauffeur, and the bedtime story reader—why should you also have to be the chief medical historian?

My commitment to you started right there!

I decided I wanted to be the pediatrician who doesn't just treat diseases, but who actively works to give parents back their confidence, time and peace of mind.

Think about the last time you had a question about your child's health. Did you spend forever detailing their entire life history before the doctor could even begin to offer advice?

As a parent, your memory shouldn't have to be a medical filing cabinet.

Parenting is complicated enough without the added stress of managing a complex health file.

I want to be the pediatrician who gives YOU back the mental space to simply enjoy your kids.

My practice is built around personal commitment and uninterrupted care.

One thing my husband says to his trainees is: "You may have a medical degree, but parents have a degree in their child."

I believe in that too. I put my medical expertise to work alongside YOUR intimate knowledge as a parent.

Imagine this:

You call our office for an appointment and I already know your child’s history.

You won't waste valuable time detailing past infections, allergies, and specialist visits every time.

That allows us to spend the whole appointment focusing on a solution, not the backstory.

Imagine that sudden concern on a weekend.

You have the relief of knowing your child can be seen in their regular clinic, because ABC Pediatrics provides consistent weekend access on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, ensuring your family always has a trusted option.

No panic, no urgent care gamble.

And when a big question comes up

You have the relief of knowing you're getting advice from an MD with expertise honed both through residency at Driscoll Children's Hospital and invaluable experience from out of state.

This background isn't for my resume - it’s YOUR superpower as a parent.

I put my years of experience to work, caring for your child right here in South Texas.

This is what I offer you when you choose me as your child’s pediatrician:

True Continuity of Care: I make it my personal mission to know your child's full story, ensuring nothing is ever missed.

Real-Life Convenience for sick visits: You can have your child seen by me or one of my partners during weekend hours at our Alameda office, which helps reduce your stress and respects your busy schedule.

Confidence in Expertise: I bring top-tier training and broad experience to every decision, so you can stop worrying and start trusting.

You deserve to spend less time managing logistics and more time enjoying the magic of watching your child grow.

Let me worry about the health barriers, so you can focus on the growth.
